Day 1: Visit Karisoke Research Centre & Village Cycling
We pick you up from the bus station (or hotel) and proceed to Karisoke Research Center and Gorilla Fund. You’ll learn a lot about gorilla behavior in relation with human behavior, you’ll see gorilla skeletons and nose prints and also find out a lot about the founder Dian Fossey. After the visit you hop on your bicycle and ride through the villages of Musanze, make stops to interact with the locals, especially the kids, then head to your local homestay.
Day 2: Caves & Cultural Village
Visit the caves near Musanze in the morning. Four caves were created when different lava flows joined to create the Albertine Rift Valley. You’ll see bat roosts as well as huge roof collapses that created colored light shafts. Then proceed to the Iby’iwacu Gorilla Guardians Cultural Village. After that you visit the food market for shopping before driving to your homestay to prepare and have dinner with the host family and stay overnight.
Day 3: Canoeing
Say goodbye to your hosts. You will be picked-up for a 2 hrs. canoeing ride. Spend a morning amongst the Thousand Hills of Rwanda, floating down a gentle river in a modern canoe. Set in the foothills of the Virunga Volcanoes, discover a special way to travel, soak up impressive views, watch abundant birds and look out for the otters, meet friendly communities and find just a little excitement in the modern canoes. Later drop-off at the bus station.
