About This Program

Healthy forests and thriving wildlife are essential for ecological balance and community wellbeing. Our Forest Restoration & Wildlife Coexistence program in Congo focuses on restoring degraded forests, protecting wildlife habitats, and promoting peaceful coexistence between people and animals. Tree nurseries and reforestation drives We establish and maintain tree nurseries that supply seedlings for reforestation projects, restoring vital habitats and enhancing biodiversity across the landscape. Soil erosion control and climate adaptation Our program implements erosion control techniques and climate adaptation strategies that protect soil health, improve water retention, and increase ecosystem resilience. Human-wildlife conflict resolution We work closely with local communities to develop and apply strategies that reduce conflicts between people and wildlife, protecting both livelihoods and animal populations. Community monitoring of sensitive areas Community members are trained and equipped to monitor forests and wildlife habitats, ensuring early detection of threats and fostering local stewardship of natural resources. By restoring forests and encouraging wildlife coexistence, we build healthier ecosystems and resilient communities. Join us in protecting Congo’s invaluable natural heritage for generations to come.

Program Impact

Our Forest Restoration & Wildlife Coexistence program in the Virunga Massif of Congo restores degraded habitats and improves biodiversity through tree nurseries and reforestation efforts. Soil erosion control and climate adaptation measures increase landscape resilience to environmental changes. Conflict resolution initiatives reduce tensions between communities and wildlife, safeguarding both human livelihoods and animal populations. Community monitoring empowers local residents to protect sensitive areas and respond to threats proactively. These combined efforts lead to stronger ecosystems, sustainable livelihoods, and enhanced coexistence between people and nature in this critical region.
