Itinerary

Day 1: Volcanoes Foothills and Red Rocks Cultural Immersion

Begin your cycling journey in Musanze with bike fitting and safety briefing. Ride through peaceful volcanic foothills with magnificent views of the Virunga Volcanoes. Pedal to the Red Rocks Cultural Center, a lively cultural hub where you’ll enjoy traditional drumming and dance performances, engage in basket weaving workshops, and listen to storytelling that brings Rwandan traditions to life. Savor a delicious local lunch here. Return by bike or support vehicle to your accommodation in Musanze for rest.

Day 2: Volcanoes View Cycle – Kinigi to Red Rocks

After breakfast, transfer or cycle to Kinigi, the start point for today’s ride. Cycle 25–30 km through picturesque mountain roads with breathtaking panoramas of the Virunga Volcanoes. Along the route, enjoy peaceful stops that let you soak in the scenery and interact with welcoming local communities. Return to Red Rocks Cultural Center for lunch accompanied by traditional music and dance, enriching your cultural experience. Transfer back to your lodge or stay overnight near Kinigi.

Day 3: Twin Lakes Serenity and Optional Canoe Ride

Cycle a scenic 25–30 km route to the stunning crater lakes, Burera and Ruhondo. The route winds through rolling hills and farmlands, offering a pleasant ride suitable for moderate fitness levels. Visit a fishing village to see traditional canoe making. Optional canoe ride on Lake Burera (additional fee) lets you experience the tranquil waters from a different angle. Enjoy lunch lakeside or at My Hill Eco Lodge, then return leisurely to Musanze by bike or support vehicle.

Day 4: Lake Kivu Shoreline Ride – Rubavu to Pfunda

Transfer to Rubavu (Gisenyi) to begin a relaxed coastal ride along the beautiful shores of Lake Kivu. Cycle 15–25 km on flat, scenic roads lined with coffee farms and banana plantations. Optional visit to the Pfunda Tea Estate offers insight into Rwanda’s tea production and a chance to taste fresh brews. End your ride with panoramic lake views, perfect for photos and relaxation. Transfer back to Musanze or continue your onward journey from Rubavu.
