February in Rwanda provides ideal conditions for tourism, with dry weather and cool mornings that support both wildlife viewing and cultural exploration. This month is excellent for primate tracking in Volcanoes, Nyungwe, and Cyamudongo forests, while Akagera National Park offers rewarding game drives, boat safaris, and night tours. Birdwatching is at its peak, and hiking trails to volcanoes and forest canopies are easily accessible. Visitors can also enjoy Lake Kivu’s leisure activities and engage with Rwanda’s cultural heritage through museums, traditional villages, and Kigali’s vibrant arts scene.
February marks the end of Uganda’s short dry season, offering ideal conditions for eco-tourism and cultural travel. Key national parks like Bwindi, Kibale, and Murchison Falls become more accessible, supporting exceptional gorilla and chimpanzee trekking, wildlife viewing, and birdwatching. Migratory birds and endemics, such as the shoebill in Mabamba Swamp, are easily observed. Stable weather enables visits to cultural communities like the Batwa and Karamojong, while mountain hiking and water-based activities thrive in scenic areas like the Rwenzoris and Lake Bunyonyi. Due to peak season demand, early bookings are advised.
February brings dry and stable weather to eastern DRC, making it ideal for gorilla trekking in Virunga and Kahuzi-Biega National Parks. It’s also a safer time to climb Nyiragongo Volcano. The dry season allows for cultural and ecotourism around Goma and Lake Kivu. With fewer crowds, clear skies, and extended daylight, travelers enjoy birdwatching, forest hikes, and local cultural experiences. This is one of the best months for cross-border ecotravel in the Virunga Massif, linking Rwanda, Uganda, and DRC.
