The From Soil to Table program invites guests to journey alongside local families, uncovering how community-based tourism empowers households to share their knowledge, culture, and hospitality.

About This Program
Through this program, participants witness how homestays serve as bridges between visitors and rural communities—preserving tradition, generating livelihood, and deepening mutual understanding. Every activity reflects the rhythm of village life, while every meal carries the taste of authenticity.
Programs We Offer
Program Module Activity Role of Homestays in Community-Based Tourism Expected Experience
Soil & Seeds Farm walk, seasonal planting, and soil fertility insights. Homestays provide access to smallholder farms where visitors learn first-hand about local agronomy. Guests gain practical skills and appreciation for volcanic soil farming.
Harvest & Process Hands-on harvesting of beans, bananas, or potatoes, followed by traditional post-harvest methods. Hosts demonstrate indigenous knowledge and sustainable practices. Participants engage in authentic rural life and food systems.
Cooking Together Preparation of traditional Rwandan meals with host families using harvested produce. Homestays act as cultural kitchens, where recipes are passed through generations. Guests enjoy immersive culinary learning in a family setting.
Table & Traditions Shared dining experience enriched with stories, songs, and community values. Homestays showcase the role of meals as a space of social bonding and hospitality. A communal meal that nourishes body, spirit, and cross-cultural friendships.
Reflection & Exchange Closing discussion with hosts on food, culture, and sustainable livelihoods. Homestays provide safe, inclusive spaces for dialogue and cultural understanding. Visitors leave with a sense of contribution, connection, and shared memory.
