Your day begins with an early pickup from your accommodation in Huye or Gisakura, followed by a scenic drive to the Uwinka Reception Center in Nyungwe. Enjoy sweeping views of tea plantations and rolling hills as your guide shares stories of the park’s ecological significance.
Guided Rainforest Nature Hike
Upon arrival, you’ll begin a guided hike through the forest along one of Nyungwe’s renowned trails. As you walk under ancient mahogany trees and moss-draped vines, your guide will help you identify medicinal plants, vibrant butterflies, colorful birds, and playful primates such as L’Hoest’s or blue monkeys.
Canopy Walk Experience and Walk Among the Treetops
Midway through the hike, you’ll reach the highlight of the day: the famous canopy walkway, suspended 70 meters above the forest floor and stretching 160 meters in length. This thrilling bridge offers unmatched aerial views of the rainforest and its wildlife. It’s a perfect moment for awe, photos, and quiet reflection.
